Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Denhunt ("we", "us") collects across denhunt.com, app.denhunt.com, and our agent app (together, the "Platform"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies whether you use the Platform as a Renter, an individual Agent, or an Agency. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
1. Information we collect
Account information
Name, email address, and password (stored securely, we never see your plain-text password) for everyone. Renters also verify a phone number.
Verification documents
Agents submit a government-issued ID (NIN, driver's license, passport, or voter's card) and, optionally, a professional certificate. Agencies submit CAC registration documents and a government ID for their business representative. These are used only to verify identity and eligibility to list property, and are visible only to our review team.
Listing content
Property details, photos, and videos that Agents and Agencies upload to list a property.
Messages
Chat messages between Renters and Agents/Agencies, including any photos, videos, or voice notes sent in a conversation. We keep these to make chat work, to help resolve disputes, and to act on reports of abuse.
Location data
For inspections on individual Agent listings only, we briefly collect your device's location when you confirm you've arrived at the property, to verify both parties met at the right place. This is only requested during an active inspection window, not tracked at any other time. Agency-listing viewings do not use location tracking.
Payment information
Transaction records (amount, status, reference) for inspection fees and subscriptions. Card and bank details are handled directly by our payment processor, Paystack, we don't store your full card number.
Usage data
Basic device, browser, and page-visit information collected automatically to understand how the Platform is used and to improve it, and cookies needed to keep you signed in.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and verify Agents and Agencies before they can list property.
- To operate enquiries, chat, scheduling, escrow, and inspections.
- To process payments, payouts, and subscription billing.
- To send you transactional emails (enquiry updates, scheduling confirmations, payment receipts, verification results) and, where relevant, service reminders like an upcoming subscription renewal.
- To investigate reports, disputes, and suspected fraud, and to keep the Platform safe.
- To improve the Platform and understand how it's used.
3. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary:
- The other party in a transaction: your name and contact details are shared with an Agent or Agency only once your enquiry has progressed far enough to need it (after payment is confirmed for an Agent listing, or once a viewing is scheduled for an Agency listing), never before.
- Paystack, our payment processor, to process payments, refunds, and payouts.
- Resend, our email provider, to deliver transactional emails.
- Supabase, our infrastructure and hosting provider, which stores our database and files.
- Law enforcement or regulators, only where required by law.
4. How long we keep it
We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and afterward for as long as needed to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. Verification documents are retained only as long as needed to keep your account verified and for fraud-prevention purposes.
5. Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to restrict certain uses of it. To make a request, email support@denhunt.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and some data (like transaction records) may need to be retained for legal reasons even after a deletion request.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level security on our database, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and continuously review our practices.
7. Children
The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Platform evolves. We'll notify you of material changes before they take effect.
